Impactos do déficit hídrico na cultura do feijão: alterações morfofisiológicas e bioquímicas

O feijão (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) representa uma das principais leguminosas cultivadas no Brasil, sendo essencial na alimentação básica da população devido ao seu elevado valor nutricional, cultural e socioeconômico. Apesar de seu potencial produtivo, a produtividade do feijoeiro ainda é considerada baixa, principalmente em sistemas agrícolas de base familiar. Entre os fatores que limitam sua produção, destacam-se os estresses abióticos, em especial o déficit hídrico, que se intensifica frente às mudanças climáticas globais. A escassez de água, especialmente durante estágios fenológicos críticos como o florescimento e a formação de vagens, compromete o desenvolvimento fisiológico, bioquímico e morfológico da planta, refletindo negativamente na produtividade final. Além disso, a frequência e intensidade de eventos de seca tendem a aumentar, exigindo a adoção de estratégias de manejo mais eficientes e sustentáveis. Nesse contexto, torna-se fundamental compreender as respostas da planta ao estresse hídrico, com destaque para mecanismos como fechamento estomático, acúmulo de solutos compatíveis, alteração na atividade antioxidante e modificação no crescimento radicular. O entendimento desses mecanismos é essencial para subsidiar práticas agronômicas que minimizem os efeitos do déficit hídrico, promovendo maior resiliência das plantas. Tecnologias sustentáveis, como o uso de bioinsumos, microrganismos promotores de crescimento vegetal e fertilizantes de liberação controlada, despontam como alternativas promissoras para mitigar os impactos do estresse hídrico. Assim, investir em estratégias eco-friendly pode contribuir para a sustentabilidade da produção de feijão em cenários de maior restrição hídrica, preservando os recursos naturais e assegurando a segurança alimentar.
