About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Scientific Electronic Archives is an open-access scientific publication for contributions in the form of original articles or scientific reviews that have significant relevance in different areas of knowledge, in Portuguese and preferably in English.

Peer Review Process

The evaluation policy follows a peer review model. Once an article is submitted to the system, three ad hoc reviewers of recognized competence are assigned to evaluate the article without mentioning the authors' names or the research institution in question. Reviewers are free to directly correct spelling and semantic errors in the article to improve its content comprehension. The article will be classified as "approved" or "rejected" based on the same opinion from two reviewers.

Frequency

Scientific Electronic Archives publishes monthly until the end of 2023 and bimonthly from 2024 onwards, with editions made available by the first business day of the month.

Scheduled Publication Dates:

Issue 1 (Jan/Feb): January 1st

Issue 2 (Mar/Apr): March 1st

Issue 3 (May/Jun): May 1st

Issue 4 (Jul/Aug): July 1st

Issue 5 (Sep/Oct): September 1st

Issue 6 (Nov/Dec): November 1st

Open Access Editorial Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content, based on the principle that scientific knowledge freely available to the public supports greater global democratization of knowledge. These documents are licensed under the following Creative Commons License:

Allows distribution, remixing, adaptation, and creation from the work, even for commercial purposes, provided that credit is given to the author of the original work (CC BY).

The Scientific Electronic Archives applies the following policy regarding the deposit and access of its articles in digital/institutional repositories:

Preprint version: The journal does not allow the storage and access, in institutional/digital repositories, of the preprint version of the document submitted for evaluation.

Author's postprint version: It allows for the storage and access of preprint and postprint versions of documents in institutional/digital repositories.

Costs and fees

Access to articles for reading: free

Submission and analysis of manuscripts: free

Publication: After analysis and approval of scientific merit by our reviewers, manuscripts may have two destinations:

a) Be added to the publication queue upon payment of the publication fee (R$350.00);

b) Obtain exemption from the publication fee (decision of the manuscript reviewers), and proceed to publication.

It is important to note that the editorial team of Scientific Electronic Archives strives to align with good editorial practices and understands that research of high scientific merit should be published, regardless of the payment of the publication fee. Only articles submitted in English will be eligible for the "exempt from payment" of the publication fee.

It is important to highlight that our journal has an individual DOI (prefix: 10.36560) and, being an electronic journal, your work will be available indefinitely on our platform. Furthermore, the data maintenance and protection service, as well as the operational costs of layout, DOI registration, journal maintenance, and any contributors, are not funded by any public institution; therefore, publication fees, when paid, are directed towards the maintenance of the journal and ensuring its longevity.

Furthermore, any author can request Expedited Review, a service offered by Scientific Electronic Archives to speed up the article review and publication process. This incentive consists of prioritizing the article's review and its immediate inclusion in the current issue, eliminating the need to wait in the publication queue. We ask for careful attention to the syntax, cohesion, and spelling of the article, as well as using the template provided in the submissions link. For authors who indicate this need, a processing fee of R$ 150.00 (one hundred and fifty reais) may be charged.

Publication for UNAI members in Special Editions: Fee R$50.00.

Journal History

Scientific Electronic Archives is a peer-reviewed journal, founded in November 2012 by Prof. Dr. Rodolfo C. Araujo Berber. Since its inception, the journal has aimed to publish scientific articles in various fields of knowledge, supporting researchers regardless of their economic resources for publication.

With a multi-institutional and multidisciplinary approach, the editorial team has always been composed of researchers of scientific relevance in their fields of knowledge, including internationally renowned names. Currently, the journal is registered in several search engines and has a significant number of accesses and citations (Google Scholar H-index). In parallel, we are continuously working to receive more international contributions, as well as to increase the visibility of our articles, which uphold good editorial practices and scientific quality.

Currently, the editor-in-chief is Dr. Gilcele de Campos Martin Berber, and the editorial team is composed of several nationally prominent researchers, as well as contributions from international researchers. We recently received the editorial quality seals from FAO/AGRIS and Miguelim. In this regard, we encourage authors and readers to access the journal's available links, and we are available to answer questions and assist in the article submission process.

Good scientific practices

Scientific Electronic Archives works with measures to identify and prevent the publication of documents in which research misconduct has occurred. This includes the condition that the author indicates that all research was conducted within the ethical standards and conditions approved by Research Ethics Committees. If a violation of good scientific practices is detected, the authors will be notified and given ample opportunity to defend themselves. During the investigation process, the article is made unavailable to the public until it is proven that there was no violation.

In cases where corrections or retractions are necessary, Scientific Electronic Archives assumes the responsibility of generating a broad notification through the tools available on the OJS platform.
