About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Scientific Electronic Archives is a bimonthly, open-access scientific journal that publishes original articles or reviews with significant scientific relevance. The journal accepts submissions in Portuguese and, preferably, in English. The submission and review process is continuous, and the journal receives manuscripts in the areas of Agricultural Sciences, Biological Sciences, Education and Teaching, Health Sciences, Exact Sciences and Engineering, and Humanities and Social Sciences.

Pre-check of the Manuscript

After receiving the manuscript, a pre-check of authorship authenticity is performed using the online Plagius system (anti-plagiarism check), as well as verification that the article meets the requirements set out in the author guidelines.

Peer Review Process

After being approved in the pre-check, manuscripts are sent to three independent and competent scientific consultants (ad hoc), who will assess the article on its scientific merit. Reviewers must have no conflict of interest and are free to suggest adjustments to the manuscript to improve the comprehension of the article's content. Upon return from the consultants, the manuscript that has received two positive reviews will proceed with the editorial process.

Frequency

Scientific Electronic Archives has monthly publications until the end of 2023 and bimonthly publications from 2024 onwards, with issues made available by the first working day of the month.

Open Access Editorial Policies

This journal provides immediate open access to its content, based on the principle that freely available scientific knowledge supports greater global democratization of knowledge. These documents are licensed under the following Creative Commons License: It allows distribution, remixing, adaptation, and creation from the work, even for commercial purposes, provided that credit is given to the author of the original work (CC BY). The authors retain full copyright and publication rights, without restrictions.

Scientific Electronic Archives permits the storage and access of preprint and postprint versions of documents in institutional/digital repositories.

Costs and Fees

Access to articles for reading: This journal does not charge fees for reading its articles.

Submission and review of manuscripts: This journal does not charge article processing fees.

Layout Finalization and Manuscript Publication:

Following the analysis and approval of scientific merit by our reviewers, corresponding authors will receive subsequent instructions to proceed with the editorial process. It is important to note that the Scientific Electronic Archives editorial team strives to align with best editorial practices and understands that articles of high scientific merit should be published as soon as possible. In this regard, we emphasize the importance of authors monitoring the messages sent via email from the corresponding author.

To achieve greater international visibility, we encourage authors to translate or submit their manuscripts in English. Authors who choose to have their manuscripts translated by the journal's editorial service should indicate this intention upon receiving confirmation of their manuscript's approval. We emphasize that this is not a mandatory condition for publication.

Good Scientific Practices

The Scientific Electronic Archives is committed to the highest standards of integrity and ethics in academic publishing. 

Authorship and Contribution: The journal adopts rigorous criteria for defining authorship. To be considered an author, an individual must have made substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data; have participated in drafting or critically revising the intellectual content; have approved the final version; and agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work. Obtaining funding or general supervision alone does not justify authorship. The corresponding author is responsible for communicating with the journal and ensuring that all co-authors agree with the final version. We encourage the use of the CRediT taxonomy to specify individual contributions.

Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI):Authors must explicitly declare the use of AI tools, specifying the name of the tool, its version, and the purpose of its use (e.g., text revision, code generation, data analysis), in a dedicated section such as "AI Contribution Declaration".

Complaints and Appeals: Any complaint or appeal related to the editorial process must be directed to the editorial team via the journal's official email. All demands will be handled fairly, transparently, and promptly. During the investigation, authors will be notified and will have the right to full defense. The article may be temporarily unavailable until the investigation is concluded.

Conflicts of Interest / Competing Interests: We require full transparency regarding any conflicts of interest, whether financial or non-financial. Authors must declare, at the time of submission, relationships that may be perceived as relevant to the content of the article, including, when applicable, an explicit statement declaring the absence of conflicts. Reviewers must declare themselves unable to review if they identify a relationship with the authors or their institution. Editors must also recuse themselves from handling submissions from authors with whom they have a real or perceived conflict, and the manuscript will be assigned to another editor.

Data Sharing and Reproducibility: We support the principles of transparency and reproducibility. We recommend that authors deposit their raw data and supporting materials in trustworthy public repositories and include a data availability statement in the manuscript. The journal reserves the right to request the underlying data of an article for verification during the review process or after publication.

Ethical Oversight: We require that all research involving humans or animals be conducted in accordance with ethical principles and current legislation. Studies involving human subjects must have been approved by a Research Ethics Committee, and animal research must have been approved by an Animal Ethics Committee, with the respective supporting documents submitted at the time of submission. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their research meets all ethical standards.

Intellectual Property: By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that the work is original, has not been previously published, and is not under consideration by another journal, and also ensure that it does not infringe third-party copyrights. The Scientific Electronic Archives adopts the Creative Commons (CC BY) license, which allows distribution, remixing, adaptation, and creation from the work, even for commercial purposes, provided that credit is given to the original author.

Post-publication Discussions and Corrections: Committed to the integrity of the academic record, we offer mechanisms for post-publication corrections and discussions. If a significant error is identified in a published article, authors must immediately notify the journal. Depending on the nature of the error, we will publish an erratum, a corrigendum, or, in cases of serious violation, proceed with article retraction, with wide notification. The journal is also open to receiving letters to the editor and comments on published articles, promoting a professional and constructive academic dialogue, which may be published after analysis by the editorial team.

Journal History

Scientific Electronic Archives is a journal that was created in November 2012, by professors from the Federal University of Mato Grosso - Sinop Campus, motivated to create a periodical publication capable of covering various areas of knowledge, as well as developing science in the central-west region of Brazil.

Over time, the journal showed organic growth and began to be considered of international scope, making it necessary to make adaptations to the editorial process, as well as to the editor-in-chief positions, in order to guarantee its initial multidisciplinary proposal through a multi-institutional effort.

Currently, its editorial team has expanded and includes the participation of researchers of scientific relevance in their fields of knowledge, including international names and institutions. As a result, the journal shows constant growth in the number of accesses and citations (Google Scholar H-index). In recognition of this work, in 2025, the journal received the FAO/AGRIS editorial quality seal.
