The present study aimed to evaluate the phytotoxic effects and the initial development of cajuaçú (Anacardium giganteum W. Hancock ex Engl.), after the application of sub-doses of glyphosate, in order to control weeds in forest restoration areas. One year after planting, three doses of glyphosate were applied, as follows: T1 = 86.4, T2 = 25 172.8 and T3 = 345.6 g a.i. ha-1, at a dosage of 3.0 L ha-1 of the commercial product and T4 = without herbicide application. At 7, 14, 21, 28 and 120 days after application (DAA) of the herbicide, scores were assigned for visual phytotoxicity, in addition to measuring height and stem diameter. After 120 DAA, it was observed that A. giganteum was sensitive to herbicide application. Height growth was significantly affected after plant contact with glyphosate, but stem diameter had no negative effect.
