Abstract

Education for water is essential for its preservation, since the consumption of this resource has increased considerably in recent years, especially in agriculture. The treated wastewater can be reused in agricultural irrigation, which allows it to be profitable and to recycle the nutrients that remain after its treatment, reducing the need for synthetic fertilizers, whose shortage will increase in the coming years. In this context, and involving the students in the construction of their knowledge and in the reflection on these themes, a project was developed with laboratory activities on phytoremediation and water reuse. Fifty-eight Basic Education students participated and data collection on their knowledge and progress was made through direct verbal interactions and through the application of an inquiry, before and after the activities were carried out. It is concluded that the project had a very positive impact on the awareness and level of knowledge of the students on the topics addressed.
