Intercropping grasses and legumes stands out for its crop diversification, optimization of natural resources, and improvement of soil health, contributing to agricultural sustainability and productivity. However, soil quality has been a central concern in agriculture, especially regarding the reduction of fertility. In this context, the use of mineral fertilizers and growth-promoting microorganisms in intercropping systems of beans and corn directly influences soil quality and the productive efficiency this system. The objective was to evaluate soil fertility in a corn and bean intercropping system under the use of growth-promoting microorganisms and mineral fertilization. The work was carried out in the experimental area of the State University of Piauí, in the municipality of Picos. The experimental design was a randomized block design with four treatments and five replications, totaling 20 plots. The treatments were: control (without the application of microorganism and fertilization); Bacillus (Bacillus amyloliquefaciens, Bacillus licheniformis, and Bacillus subtilis); mix (Azospirillum brasiliense, Rhizobium tropici, Bacillus megaterilm, Bacillus subtilis, and Bacillus aryabhattai); and chemical fertilization. The organic matter content, hydrogen ion potential, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, exchangeable aluminum, and H + Al were evaluated. Mineral fertilization showed a significant effect on phosphorus availability in soil cultivated in a corn and bean intercropping system. The isolated application of microorganisms did not show significant results for most of the chemical attributes evaluated, but a promising result was observed for the mix in the availability of phosphorus.
