Abstract

Cystic Endometrial Hyperplasia Complex (CEHC) – stump pyometra is a condition that especially affects female dogs and cats after neutering. It involves abnormal thickening of the uterine lining (endometrium) and accumulation of fluid and pus in the uterus (pyometra). With the removal of the ovaries, there are hormonal changes that trigger this disease. Therefore, this study aimed to carry out a bibliographical review of scientific publications that address the complex cystic endometrial hyperplasia – stump pyometra in dogs, exploring the most recent and relevant information in the literature. This review was carried out through research with a qualitative approach, using descriptive analysis, using works published in the study area during the last five years for data collection, bibliographical research and subsequent critical reading on the subject. The results show that the CHEC condition is a significant clinical problem that can lead to serious complications if not treated appropriately. Therefore, awareness and preventive action are essential to guarantee the health and well-being of female dogs, reducing the risks associated with this challenging clinical condition.
