Estimated litterfull accumulated in a mixed eucalyptus in the Cerrado-Pantanal ecotone

The litter is causally related to the forest productivity, this is due to the aerial biomass that accumulates in the soil, recycles organic substances, and when it is decomposing, those substances cause the recurrence of nutrients to the soil. Erosive and forest exploration procedures may contribute to the loss and nutrients exportation, respectively, causing their deficits related with the reuse. Therefore, the presence of litter can both optimize productivity and reduce of these losses. This work was developed at the State University of Mato Grosso do Sul, Aquidauana unit, with the objective of estimating the total litterfall accumulation and fractions at distinct times of a year (October and December/17 and April and June/18) in hybrid stands of 3 ha with the clones I224 (Eucalyptus urophylla x Eucalyptus grandis) and 1277 (Eucalyptus grandis x Eucalyptus camaldulensis) occupying an area of 2.25 x 4.00 m, and to correlate the litterfall accumulation with the meteorological variables as: rainfall, average temperature and wind speed. For the litter collection, a PVC template of 0.25 m² was used, under a randomized complete design in four 10 x 20 m plots with eight replications. The accumulated annual litterfall was 3.9 Mg.ha-1, with a largest accumulation in October/17. The fractions followed the order of restitution: branches > leaves > remains > barks. The increase in wind speed had a positive correlation in the total litterfall accumulation. The rainfall was significant for the accumulation of the leaf and branch fraction in December/17, as opposed to the higher average temperature that negatively influenced the total accumulation, by leaves and remains in the same period
