Abstract

This observe aimed to evaluate the physiological pleasant of cowpea (Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.) seeds treated with a artificial insecticide and a natural bay laurel extract (Laurus nobilis (L.)) all through different garage durations. The test become conducted in a totally randomized design, in a 2x5 factorial association (4 treatments x five garage durations), with four replicates. The treatments applied had been: T0 (manipulate, no software), T1 (artificial insecticide Actara®, at the advocated dose), T2 (bay laurel extract at 50 g L⁻¹), and T3 (bay laurel extract at 100 g L⁻¹). The seeds have been saved for zero, 30, 60, 90, and 120 days. After every period, the germination percentage (PG), Emergence Speed Index (ESI), Plant Height (PH), Root Length (RL), Shoot Fresh Mass (SFM) e Shoot Dry Mass (SDM).had been evaluated. Data were subjected to analysis of variance, and the way were compared by means of Tukey's test at 5% chance. The consequences demonstrated that the interaction between treatments and storage time was large for the germination percent. After a hundred and twenty days of storage, remedy T3 (laurel extract one hundred g L⁻¹) furnished the very best germination percent (ninety two.0%), differing statistically from the manage (seventy eight.5%) and T2 (seventy eight.0%), and surpassing the artificial insecticide T1 (85.5%). For the alternative variables (ESI, PH, RL, SFM and SDM), the garage time component become great, recording a progressive decline in seed physiological high-quality with extended garage, regardless of the remedy. It is concluded that the laurel extract at a concentration of 100 g L⁻¹ became the handiest treatment in maintaining the physiological quality of cowpea seeds for the duration of garage, surpassing the artificial insecticide and the lowest dose of the extract.
