Bell peppers are used in various culinary dishes. This study aimed to evaluate the performance of bell pepper seedlings under different substrate conditions. Conducted in a greenhouse over a period of 45 days, seeds of the Rubi Gigante cultivar were sown on different substrate formulations: Treatment 1: Coconut fiber (Golden Mix); Treatment 2: Sugarcane bagasse; Treatment 3: Vermiculite + Sugarcane bagasse (1:1); and Treatment 4: Vermiculite + Sugarcane bagasse (2:1). The results indicated that the coconut fiber substrate in T1 and vermiculite + sugarcane bagasse (2:1) and T4 obtained the highest average values for shoot length, respectively. T1 stood out for the greatest shoot growth (SWL) at 5.30 m and for the best root development (RLD) at 8.60 m. Although all treatments obtained similar averages for the variables, treatments 4 and 1, respectively, showed the best agronomic performance in growth (CPA) and (CPR), respectively, promising seedlings with skillful development for sustainable plant production.
