Feline sporotrichosis in Brazil is a subcutaneous mycosis primarily caused by Sporothrix brasiliensis. The disease has significantly expanded since the 1990s, with outbreaks in various regions. Transmission mainly occurs through cats via scratches and bites. Diagnosis relies on clinical, epidemiological, and laboratory data, including culture, cytopathology, and molecular techniques. Traditional treatment involves itraconazole and potassium iodide, with new alternatives like hydrazone derivatives and milteforan showing promise. Resistance to itraconazole is a growing concern, highlighting the need for new therapies. Canine sporotrichosis, though less common, also requires attention with similar treatment protocols. Effective public policies and mandatory reporting are essential for disease prevention and control.
