Abstract

Feline application sarcoma, formerly called vaccine sarcoma, consists of a cutaneous tumor of mesenchymal origin that develops at the site of application of vaccines and other medications. It affects middle-aged animals and there is no predilection for sex or apparent breed. The time of disease evolution may vary from months to years after the application of the drug. The causes are not well defined, but it is believed that inflammation, adjuvant particles of vaccines, absence of regulation of the p53 gene and immune system are involved. Thus, any nodule in the application region needs to be pointed out as suspicious. The definitive diagnosis is by means of tumor biopsy, fibrosarcoma being the most common histological type. Therefore, due to its aggressive behavior the currently most indicated treatment is radical surgical excision. However, often only isolated surgery does not achieve success. Therefore, the aim of this study was to report a case of feline application sarcoma, whose treatment involved the electrochemotherapy technique as an adjuvant.
