This paper addresses nursing interventions in the mental health care of cancer patients, focusing on strategies for coping with anxiety and depression during cancer treatment. Considering that cancer is a chronic degenerative disease that affects not only the physical but also the emotional aspects, the study highlights the fundamental role of nurses in the early recognition and management of psychological distress. Based on an integrative literature review, 312 articles were initially identified, and after data analysis, 9 articles fully met the inclusion criteria and comprised the final sample analyzed. Based on the national and international scientific evidence, the study discusses practices such as emotional assessment through screening instruments, spiritual support, active listening, and humanized care, which have shown effectiveness in reducing anxiety and depressive symptoms, in addition to promoting improved quality of life. The research also emphasizes the challenges faced in systematizing these interventions in clinical practice, including limitations in professional training and a lack of institutional protocols. This work is justified by the need to strengthen comprehensive, evidence-based care, promoting the humanization of cancer care. Finally, the importance of continuous training of nursing professionals for the effective implementation of these strategies is highlighted, aiming to promote the emotional well-being of patients and improve therapeutic results.
