Prospecting innovative potential in agricultural and health sciences: systematic diagnosis and governance of innovation at UFMT-Sinop

University innovation drives socioeconomic progress, although a gap persists in the translation of scientific knowledge into protected technologies. This study evaluated the innovation potential and technological maturity in research projects in the areas of agricultural and health sciences at UFMT-Sinop Campus. Through a quantitative-qualitative approach based on the Oslo Manual, 288 approved abstracts between 2019 and 2023 were analyzed. It was found that the majority of proposals have low to zero potential (75% agricultural; 71% health), with 54.6% concentrated in the TRL 1 stage, although strategic plots reach high or very high potential (13% agricultural; 5% health). A severe dependence on internal resources (84.7%) and incipient interaction with the productive sector were noted. As an inland campus with only two decades of history, the unit demonstrates resilience and increasing maturity. It is concluded that the conversion of academic knowledge into technological assets requires incentive policies and the consolidation of the Triple Helix model to overcome technical isolation and expand regional socioeconomic impact.
